What each charge is
- Commission: PSX's floor is the higher of 0.15% of the trade value or 3 paisa a share. Brokers may charge more (0.15-0.5% is common); app brokers are often at the floor. Ask yours.
- Sales tax on commission: a provincial tax on the broker's service: 15% in Sindh, 16% in Punjab and Islamabad.
- PSX, SECP and NCCPL fees: tiny percentages of the trade value (Rs 3.50, Rs 0.65 and about Rs 1.11 per Rs 100,000).
- CDC: the depository's transaction fee, about 0.0036% with a small minimum. CVT on share purchases is currently 0%.
- Not included: capital gains tax (see the CGT calculator), annual account fees, and the higher charges some brokers apply to day trades or futures.
Fees change; the defaults are typical, not your broker's exact tariff. Compare apps on our trusted brokers page.
