How it is calculated
- Pick the stocks. Every listed share with at least 120 sessions of daily prices and an average of Rs 2m traded per day over the last month (268 stocks today).
- Score each factor 0-100. For every input we rank the stocks from worst to best: 100 means better than all the others, 50 is the middle. Inputs within a factor are blended with the weights below.
- Average the five factors (equal weights, at least four needed), then rank that average once more so the total spreads over 0-100. A total of 80 means the stock beats 80% of the scored stocks.
- Grade. 80+ Strong, 60-79 Good, 40-59 Average, 20-39 Weak, under 20 Poor.
| Factor | Inputs and weights |
|---|---|
| Value | Earnings yield (EPS ÷ price, the inverse of P/E), ranked half against its own sector and half against the whole market. Loss-making companies score 0. |
| Quality | Net profit margin (50%), the share of the last four years with a profit (25%) and last year's EPS growth (25%). |
| Dividend | Dividend yield as published by PSX (70%) and the number of cash payouts announced in the last 13 months (30%: none 0, one 60, two or more 100). |
| Momentum | Average of the 6-month and 12-month price return (70%) and the distance above or below the 200-day average (30%). |
| Safety | Low yearly volatility (40%), a shallow worst fall over the last year (30%) and high daily traded value (30%). |
Data: prices and P/E from the PSX Data Portal screener, daily bars from PSX's end-of-day market summaries, financials from PSX company pages, payouts from PSX financial announcements. Daily prices are adjusted for bonus shares, right issues and splits (from PSX's own ex-date prices), but not for cash dividends.

Questions
- Is the danioPSX score a buy or sell recommendation?
- No. It ranks stocks on facts that are already public (profits, dividends, price history) so you can compare them quickly. It does not know the future, and a high score can fall. Do your own research or speak to a licensed adviser.
- How often does the score change?
- It is recalculated every hour from the latest PSX prices, daily bars, company financials and payout announcements. Most scores move slowly; momentum and safety react fastest.
- Why does a stock have no score?
- Only stocks with at least 120 trading sessions on file and an average of Rs 2m traded per day are scored, and a stock needs at least four of the five factors. Thinly traded shares can jump on a few trades, so ranking them would mislead.
- Is it free?
- Yes. Every factor and the total are free on every stock page, in the screener and in sector pages. The full method is on this page.
