How pivots are worked out
Pivot = (high + low + close) ÷ 3. Classic levels: R1 = 2 × pivot − low, S1 = 2 × pivot − high, R2/S2 = pivot ± the day's range, R3/S3 one more step out. Fibonacci levels add or subtract 38.2%, 61.8% and 100% of the range from the pivot. Pivots are widely watched, which is most of why they sometimes work; they are not predictions.
