Search for "best trading app in Pakistan" and most of what you find is written by brokers about themselves, or is about forex and binary-option apps that have nothing to do with the Pakistan Stock Exchange. This guide is different. We are not a broker, we take no referral fees, and we rank PSX brokers on one thing first: how safe your money and shares are with them.
Features and fees matter too, and we cover them. But a slick app is worth nothing if the broker behind it fails or mishandles client money.
The short answer
If you want a single shortlist, these are the three brokers with the top management rating (BMR1) and a listed or bank-backed parent, as of October 2026:
- Arif Habib Limited (app: AHL Tick / eTrade)
- AKD Securities (app: AKD Trade)
- JS Global Capital (app: JS GlobalOnline)
All three are a sound starting point for most investors. The right one for you depends on how you invest, which we cover below. The full list of brokers we track is on our brokers page.
How we ranked them
Every broker licensed by the PSX can let you buy and sell the same shares at the same exchange prices. What differs is the strength of the company holding your account. We looked at four things:
| Factor | What we checked | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Independent rating | PACRA or VIS broker management rating (BMR) or the newer broker fiduciary rating (BFR). BMR1/BFR1 is the best | Rating agencies review controls, governance, client-asset handling and finances |
| Backing | Listed on the PSX, owned by a bank or a large group, or privately held | A listed or bank-owned broker publishes accounts and faces more scrutiny |
| Penalty record | PSX enforcement actions and fines | Shows how the broker behaves when no one is watching |
| Outlook and direction | Stable, negative, upgraded, downgraded or withdrawn | A downgrade or a withdrawn rating is an early warning |
We did not rank on commission, because fees change often and many brokers negotiate. We also did not invent app-store ratings: we only mention one where our source recorded it. SECP is moving brokers from the older BMR scale to a single BFR rating, so you will see both in the table.
Ratings come from the agencies' own reports, linked under Sources. They move, so check pacra.com or vis.com.pk before you open an account.
Comparison table (October 2026)
| Rank | Broker | App | Rating | Backing | Watch out for |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Arif Habib Limited | AHL Tick / eTrade | PACRA BMR1, stable (Dec 2025) | Listed on PSX (AHL), Arif Habib group | Small PSX penalty in 2023 |
| 2 | AKD Securities | AKD Trade | BMR1; VIS entity AA-/A1 (Jul 2025) | Listed on PSX (AKDSL) | PSX warnings only |
| 3 | JS Global Capital | JS GlobalOnline | PACRA BMR1 (Dec 2024) | Listed, subsidiary of JS Bank | Minor CDC and PSX advisories |
| 4 | Topline Securities | Topline | VIS BMR2++, stable (Jun 2026) | Independent, research-led | A fake app called "TSL WEALTH" copies its name |
| 5 | Next Capital | Finqalab | VIS BMR2++ (Feb 2025) | Listed on PSX (NEXT) | Higher commission; slow support reported |
| 6 | Alfalah Securities | Alfalah Securities | PACRA BFR2, downgraded Apr 2025 | About 96% owned by Bank Alfalah | Downgrade and a Rs 2m PSX penalty (2023) |
| 7 | KTrade Securities | KTrade | PACRA entity A-/A2 (Nov 2025); BMR withdrawn 2023 | Private | App reviews mention login and OTP problems (3.8 stars) |
| 8 | Munir Khanani Securities | MMMAK online | VIS BMR2, negative outlook (Apr 2025) | Private, about 99.9% owned by the CEO | Negative outlook; Rs 750k PSX penalty (2024, under appeal) |
| 9 | Foundation Securities | Foundation | VIS BFR3++ | Fauji Foundation | Fiduciary rating lower than peers |
The top three in more detail
1. Arif Habib Limited (AHL Tick / eTrade)
Arif Habib holds PACRA's top management rating, BMR1, with a stable outlook (December 2025). It is itself listed on the PSX and part of a large financial group, and it has a big retail client base. It accepts Roshan Digital Account investors. Its only blemish in our data is a small PSX penalty in 2023.
Best for: most investors who want a large, established name with a top rating.
2. AKD Securities (AKD Trade)
AKD has a BMR1 management rating and a strong VIS entity rating of AA-/A1 (July 2025). It is listed on the PSX and, by its own figures, has the most active accounts of any broker in Pakistan. It is also RDA-eligible. Our check found only PSX warnings, not fines.
Best for: active retail investors who want a popular app backed by a highly rated company.
3. JS Global Capital (JS GlobalOnline)
JS Global holds PACRA BMR1 (December 2024) and is a listed subsidiary of JS Bank. It is debt-free, and overseas Pakistanis can invest through JS Bank's Roshan Digital Account. Only minor CDC and PSX advisories appear in our data.
Best for: investors who like a bank group behind their broker, and JS Bank customers.
The rest of the list
- Topline Securities has a recently reaffirmed VIS BMR2++ rating (June 2026) and a strong research reputation. It is RDA-eligible. Be careful: a fake app called "TSL WEALTH" has impersonated it. Install only from links on topline.com.pk.
- Next Capital (Finqalab) has the most modern-feeling app in this group and instant funding through RAAST. The trade-offs our source recorded are higher commission and slower support.
- Alfalah Securities has the strength of Bank Alfalah behind it and accepts RDA investors, but its fiduciary rating was downgraded to BFR2 in April 2025 and it paid a Rs 2 million PSX penalty in 2023.
- KTrade is the best-known beginner app, with digital onboarding and JazzCash funding. However, its broker management rating was withdrawn in 2023 (it still has an A-/A2 entity rating), and app reviews mention login and OTP problems.
Brokers on our caution list
- Munir Khanani Securities: large account base, but a negative rating outlook and a Rs 750,000 PSX penalty (under appeal).
- Foundation Securities: backed by Fauji Foundation, but its BFR3++ fiduciary rating is lower than peers.
- Intermarket: rating withdrawn.
- Insight: we could not find a current rating.
- "Munafa" and similar apps: we could not verify these as licensed PSX brokers. Avoid any app you cannot find on the PSX broker list.
"Caution" does not mean these firms have done anything illegal. It means the independent evidence is weaker than for the brokers above, so we would not put a large sum with them.
Which app for which investor?
| You are... | Consider | Why |
|---|---|---|
| A beginner putting in a small amount | AKD Trade, AHL Tick, or KTrade if you accept its weaker rating | Easy onboarding; AKD and AHL have top ratings. A Sahulat account needs only your CNIC and allows up to Rs 3 million |
| An active trader | AKD Trade, AHL Tick, JS GlobalOnline | Top-rated brokers with large retail operations. Compare per-trade commission and charting tools directly |
| An overseas Pakistani using a Roshan Digital Account | Arif Habib, AKD, JS Global (through JS Bank), Topline, Alfalah | All listed as RDA-eligible in our sources |
| An Islamic investor | Any licensed broker | You choose the shares; the broker does not decide whether you are Shariah-compliant. Stick to KMI-30 stocks or the KMI All Share list |
| Investing a large sum (over Rs 1 million) | Two top-rated brokers, or a CDC Investor Account | The PSX compensation fund covers up to Rs 1 million per investor if a broker defaults |
On fees: brokers charge commission per trade, plus government and exchange charges (CVT, SECP, PSX and CDC fees). Commission rates and minimums change and are often negotiable, so check the current fee schedule on each broker's own website before you sign up. Do not choose a broker on commission alone: a difference of a few paisas per share matters far less than the safety of your account.

How your shares are protected
Pakistan's system has several layers of protection that apply whichever broker you choose:
- Your shares are held in your name. They sit in a CDC sub-account under your name, not in the broker's own account. CDC sends you an SMS for every trade and transfer, and eStatements are free.
- Client cash is kept separate. Brokers must keep client money in a separate bank account from their own.
- Compensation fund. If a broker defaults, the PSX compensation fund (CCPF) pays up to Rs 1 million per claimant.
- Strongest option: you can hold shares in a CDC Investor Account (IAS), outside your broker's control, and move them to the broker only when you want to sell.
How to check a broker before you sign up
- Find it on the PSX list of TREC holders and on SECP's list of licensees.
- Look up its rating on PACRA or VIS. BMR1 or BFR1 is best; a withdrawn rating or a negative outlook is a warning sign.
- Install the app only from the link on the broker's own website. SECP has warned the public about fake apps copying licensed broker names (Express Tribune).
- Deposit only into the broker's company client account. Never into a person's account, an agent's account or a mobile wallet in someone's name.
- Register for CDC Access and compare your holdings with the broker app once a month.
- Turn on OTP and fingerprint login and never share an OTP, even with someone who says they work for the broker.
- Refuse blanket authorisations to move your shares, and switch off discretionary trading.
Red flags: forex and binary apps are not the PSX
Many of the apps that appear when you search "trading app in Pakistan" are forex, CFD or binary-option platforms such as Quotex, XM or OctaFX. None of these are PSX brokers. They are not licensed by SECP to deal in Pakistani shares, your money usually leaves Pakistan, and the investor protections above do not apply.
Walk away if you see any of these:
- Promises of guaranteed or daily returns.
- A "manager" who trades for you on WhatsApp or Telegram.
- Requests to send money to a personal bank account or wallet.
- An app that is not linked from a licensed broker's official website.
- Pressure to deposit more to "unlock" a withdrawal.
If you want to own Pakistani companies, you need a PSX-licensed broker and a CDC account. Anything else is a different, and usually far riskier, product.
Frequently asked questions
Which is the safest trading app in Pakistan? On independent ratings, the apps of Arif Habib (AHL Tick), AKD Securities (AKD Trade) and JS Global (JS GlobalOnline) come out on top, all with BMR1.
Is KTrade safe? KTrade is a licensed broker with an A-/A2 entity rating. Its broker management rating was withdrawn in 2023, so it scores below the top three on our method.
Can I open an account with only my CNIC? Yes. A Sahulat account needs only a CNIC and has a limit of up to Rs 3 million.
How much do I need to start? There is no exchange minimum beyond the price of the shares you buy, but brokers may set their own minimum deposit. Check with the broker.
Not financial advice. This ranking is independent research for education. Ratings and fees change: verify everything with the broker, PACRA, VIS, PSX and SECP before opening an account.
